Dragør, Denmark
thursday was a long day of relaxing- and we needed it. all teh trekking around different cities was awesome, but even my perfectly chisled & sclpted body began to show signs of wear. so on thursday, we went to the town of Dragør, (pronounced Drower- or at least, thats as close as an american can get to pronouncing it) for a leisurely stroll. it's a beautiful, quaint little port village about 15 minutes from Copenhagen.
most of the houses are yellow due to a special coat of chalk they receive to help them stand up to the harsh weather by the sea. the rooves are all either tiled or thatched, and it's like walking into a period film. i wore out the camera!
the remainder of the day was spent reclining at the table at Gert's farm. he has a few horses, and bennett had fun playing looking at them (and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y avoiding the electric fence!). we had a big lunch of traditional danish foods that will make all jens family back home ery jealous. it included a few different kinds of herring (Jamie, i liked the curried herring! ha! go figure...), and Smørrebrød... open faced sandwiches with herring & salami, and lox. awesome traditional danish fare. and i bmanned up and tried it all. Flemming, you'd have been proud.
after that, we just hung around Gert's place, talking and letting bennett and Villads play. for as much as they would. Villads has a new brother named phillip, and he was none too thrilled about the arrival of bennett, who he seemed to fear may also be a permanent family addition. it was a cold, windy, rainy afternoon, and it was nice to relax in gert's cozy cottage with family. laterer we had a hearty supper, and headed home to inger's in time to put bennett to bed.
it was a great day, and rejuvenated us for more sightseeing to be done on friday.
