EuroTank Pt. IX

Saturday, 11.10.2007
Copenhagen, Denmark

saturday
was another very chill day. we started with a big danish breakfast- a habit we got into while in denmark. they eat differently for breakfast than we do, and i dare to say their way is better. it usually consists of mainly bread (and/or oatmeal), cheeses, butter, coffee (black- apparently, no one uses cream in their coffee at all in denmark), and maybe once a week- pastry.

if you're not aware of it, danish pastry is the best there is. there's a reason a realy good pastry is simply referred to as a "danish". we had it about every day, but they typically reserve it for maybe saturday mornings, and they call it cake. it is DANG good.

they also drink at pretty much every meal... including breakfast. in the mornings it's a very strong liquor called dr. neillsen's, and it tastes like cough medicine. for that matter, it warms & soothes your throat, so it may in fact make a very good cough medicine! they sip it from a cordial throughout the meal.

ok, so after breakfast we went into copenhagen to do some shopping with annette. she showed us all the best stores. it definitely was not my favorite part of the trip, but jen had been very patient with me on more than a few occasions, so i owed it to her. we found some nice christmas stuff, and a few gifts for family.

annette split from us about 2:00, and we had to find a place to eat lunch. this is where it got stressful- we couldn't find a good place to eat, and ended up in mcdonalds because bennett was starved, cold, tired, hungry and needed a change. (travel with a toddler is a whole new level of parenting). the mcdonalds lunch was definitely the low point in our trip, but we sat, ate, fixed uyp the tyke, and moved on.

each day had been gen getting progressively colder since we left for our trip with the trip from belgium to denmark making a serious difference, and by saturday, is was bitter cold. so as the sun began to et, we decided to head back to ingers place for an early dinner and an early night for bennett.

we stopped at a grocery store for frickin' dillas and cooked em up and ate em in fron ot the TV. mostly BBC sice we had no idea what was going on on the danish channels. the early night was welcome...
